Foster Parent Conference
This annual conference provides foster parents and placement staff with presentations by nationally known speakers; workshops on various topics including childhood trauma, PSD’s new safety practice, general information on child abuse and neglect, positive discipline, access to resources, and more, as well as opportunities to meet other foster parents and department staff.
2019 Foster Parent Conference Update:
The Annual Foster Parent Conference has traditionally been held each September. This year’s conference will be postponed and will be held around the National Foster Parent Month in Spring 2020. The main reason for the shift is that CYFD has gathered a significant amount of feedback from placement staff across the state, task force groups, foster parents and relatives about their experience. After gathering this info (the good and areas they need to improve) CYFD is evaluating training, policy, procedures, federal guidelines & licensing standards to better meet the needs of foster families and kids. CYFD knows how important it is to provide relative and foster parents with a helpful, insightful and quality conference. With this in mind, it was felt that moving the conference would much better meet your training needs and give you a chance to experience training revisions first hand this spring. We will keep you informed about conference details as they are finalized.
Thank you so much for your patience, and for your ongoing commitment to the children and families in New Mexico. Please bookmark this site and check back often for updates
