2018 CYFD Annual Foster Parent Conference

This annual conference provides foster parents and placement staff with presentations by nationally known speakers; workshops on various topics including childhood trauma, PSD’s new safety practice, general information on child abuse and neglect, positive discipline, access to resources, and more, as well as opportunities to meet other foster parents and department staff.

Childcare Information

Childcare for 2-12 year olds will be provided off-site by Altamonte Child Development Center, Inc. which is conveniently located within 5 miles of Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town, where the conference takes place.  Their address is 3305 Alta Monte Ave Ne, Albuquerque, NM 87107.  See map below (Click on Map to enlarge photo):

Childcare is available for bio, adoptive, and foster children ages 2-12 years old.  TFC Families are not eligible for childcare.  Children must also be potty trained.

Register by August 13th to reserve your childcare spot, space is limited, childcare will be offered on a first-come-first served basis. CHILDCARE IS NOW FULL! You can still register your children, but they will be put on a waiting list.

Families are encouraged to coordinate respite or alternative care for their children due to limited childcare. For children ages 2-12, drop off at Altamonte Child Development Center, Inc on Friday September 7th by 8:00 am and picked up by 5:30pm.  Children will need to be dropped off on Saturday, September 8th by 7:45am and picked up by 12:30pm.

For youth 13-18 years old, onsite activities will be available or they can attend workshops with their parents/guardians.  *This will need to be indicated upon registration.

Details will be provided in your final registration confirmation email.

 

Stipend Information

The vendor process is a little different this year. Only CYFD Licensed Foster Parents will need to fill out the W-9 form. Download the W-9 Form below which includes instructions on how to fill out the W-9. TFC Families are not eligible for the stipend. Therefore, no additional paperwork is needed.

Stipend awards for travel will depend upon the distance travel to Albuquerque for the conference and are listed as follows:

  • For families who live 0-50 map miles from Albuquerque, $50.00
  • For families who live 51-150 map miles from Albuquerque, $150.00
  • For families who live 151-250 map miles from Albuquerque, $250.00
  • For families who live 251+ map miles from Albuquerque, $300.00

*Please note that stipend amounts are for 2 travel days, therefore if only one conference day is attended the stipend amount will decrease.

Stipends will NOT be handed out on-site. They will be mailed to you within 30 days after the conference. Please be prepared financially as you will be responsible for your hotel room costs at the time of the conference. All families requesting a stipend must fill out the W-9 Form in order to receive payment.

  1. First, the primary parent should complete the W-9 form and submit to NMSU before the conference. This form should be typed or printed legibly, then printed and signed. The completed form must be received by August 24, 2018 or it will delay your receipt of funds.
  2. At the conference you will be required to sign a NMSU Direct Pay Request form. You MUST complete both the W-9 form AND the Direct Pay Request form in order to receive your stipend payment. The Direct Pay Request form will be available for your signature when you pick up your deposit check on site.

Deposit Information

A deposit check of $100 is required for all CYFD Foster Parent and TFC Family registrations. Your deposit check will be handed back to you on-site. If you are not able to attend the conference and need to cancel your registration, please let us know by August 31, 2018 in order to have your deposit check mailed back or voided.
