Special Education Issues Facing Children in Custody

The presenters will address the basic requirements and responsibilities that schools must meet when serving children who are in the State’s custody.  Some of these children qualify for services under either the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act  (IDEA) or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.  This session will review practical approaches to ensuring that appropriate services and accommodations are provided to promote children’s academic success.

This workshop offers 1.5 general CLEs for judges and attorneys and 1.5 CEUs for social workers and counselors.
