About Us

The Southwest Region National Child Protection Training Center:

  • Promotes and develops Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) programs at colleges, universities, seminaries, medical and law schools within the region.
  • Develops ‘‘laboratory’’ training facilities that include mock houses, medical facilities, courtrooms, and forensic interview rooms that provide a real world experience to students and professionals.
  • Offers training and technical assistance in the areas of child maltreatment and advocacy.
  • Builds a continuum of sustainable trauma-informed care and training systems.


The National Child Protection Training Center (NCPTC) is establishing regional training centers throughout the United States to expand accessibility and availability for training and technical assistance. NMSU is one of the first sites designated by the NCPTC for this purpose.

The Southwest Region, National Child Protection Training Center will cover West Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
